Gold Prize! Leading the world with Sustainability by being awarded The Gold prize at the Better Future Wild Design Awards 2024!
We are thrilled to announce that Hardcat software solutions and Forward Thinking Design Circular (FTDC) partnership has been recognised for the contribution we make to circularity. It can be said that while sustainability is the end goal, circularity is a step towards that end goal.
What’s is Circularity?
Circularity is a practice which focuses on reducing waste as much as possible while keeping a product’s value intact for a longer period of time. This award highlights our commitment to sustainability and circular economy principles in the built environment. A circular economy in asset management aims to maximise asset lifecycles. It seeks to reduce waste and optimise resource use. It shifts from the “take, make, dispose” model. It embraces a sustainable approach to managing assets’ lifecycles. This involves rethinking how we design, use, and manage assets, with key strategies including:
- Repairing and maintaining assets to extend their usability and delay obsolescence.
- Refurbishing and remanufacturing assets to restore functionality and value.
- Repurposing or redistributing assets that no longer serve their original purpose.
By prioritising recovery and recycling, organisations can reduce waste. They can cut reliance on raw materials and enhance sustainability. This transition saves costs and strengthens resilience. It helps organisations thrive in a world of constrained resources. Embracing circular economy principles positions businesses for long-term success while supporting environmental responsibility.

In collaboration with FTD Circular (FTDC) and Ilimaf, Hardcat and FTDC projects transforms built environments into data-enabled asset banks, reducing waste and embodied carbon. Hardcat’s digital tools enable organisations to take a data led circular economy approach to built environment design, construction and de-fit/demolition. This collaborative innovation project began by focussing on fitouts/de-fit and now extends to turning all built environments into valuable asset banks of materials, fixtures, fittings and furnishings data-enabled for trade and ESG reporting.
Hardcat and FTDC innovation project has won Gold in the prestigious WILD Design Awards 2024. This accolade underscores our collective commitment to taking a data and design led approach to applying sustainability and circular economy principles in the built environment. The project was then elevated to the Better Future Australian National Awards in 2024 where we secured another Gold, before winning Gold again on the global stage with the Better Future WILD Design Awards!
