The MiCat application can no longer be downloaded from App Stores
Hardcat has removed download access for the old MiCat application on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The old MiCat application has been completely superseded by MiCatX.
The old MiCat app has now reached the end of its life and has been removed from the app stores. We have left MiCat in legacy support mode for the last two and a half years since its replacement MiCatX was released.
MiCat began its life as an iOS-only app with V1.0 coming out on the 5th of June 2013 and branched out to include Android support with V2.5.2 on the 27th of October 2015.
The last release of MiCat was V6.4.15 on the 29th of January 2020 and at this point, development was ceased as a technology review had identified that the core technologies of this app were never going to be able to be scalable and it would cause issues for clients with medium to large systems.
This led to MiCatX being commissioned as a ground-up rewrite of the app with more modern technologies. MiCatX replaced the basic MiCat features upon its release on the 10th of June 2020.
The decision to remove the old app from the store was already in the works when our security team brought up that one of the core technologies had recently disclosed a vulnerability that could potentially make our app exploitable. For details on the library vulnerability please see the National Vulnerability Database.
Please note: there has been no provable exploit to date with our applications implementation of this library and its removal is just precautionary and has brought forward the already planned removal.
